Program: (tour sequence may vary)

  • Head first to Rafael Freyre where you'll do a short ride through the countryside aboard a steam engine train from the 19th century departing from a former sugar factory.
  • Next stop, the Bariay National Monument Park, known as the place where Christopher Columbus discovered Cuba in October 1492. This multi-purpose park houses an archeological museum, a commemorative plaque in the place where Columbus first landed, a replica of the fishing village Columbus discovered on his first trip where the Taino life and areito dance is re-enacted, and a 19th century Spanish fort (Cuban War of Independence 1895-1898), and the Memorial to the half-millennium of the encounter between the two cultures, which symbolize the meeting between the Old World and the New World.
  • Learn about rural life in Cuba taking a horseback ride, or learn about their traditions by visiting a replica of a Taino fishing village.
  • Attend a traditional dance show of the indigenous Taino people before having lunch in the park's restaurant.

Suggestions on what to wear and bring:
Comfortable shoes and wear, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, bottled water, camera, cash in small denominations for souvenirs, drinks and tips.

Notes:
- Not suitable for people with reduced mobility and people in wheelchairs.
- This tour is not available from Playa Covarrubias hotels.
